IMPORTANT: You MUST use the legend below to determine whether each certain boot screen is compatible with your operating system. One of the three "icons" below will appear beside the "Download" link of each boot screen.
XP - A boot screen with this icon will only work on Windows XP operating systems without any Service Packs installed.
SP - This boot screen will work only on a Windows XP operating system with Service Pack 1 installed.
XP/SP - This zip file contains both XP and SP versions of the boot screen. There are two boot screens in this file, as long as you use the right one, you should be safe.

Boot Screen Installation Instructions

Backup (copy) the file %windir%\system32\ntoskrnl.exe (most likely C:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe - the original boot screen)

Download the .zip file to your computer

Extract ntoskrnl.exe to a directory other than %windir%\system32 (most likely C:\windows\system32). Extracting it to the Desktop is suggested.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode (hit F8 before the boot screen) or into true DOS (from a boot disk)

Overwrite the file %windir%\system32\ntoskrnl.exe (which should have been backed up) with the extracted exe file

Reboot your computer as you normally would.

Use these boot screens at your own risk! Installing these requires you to edit a file in the Windows folder.
