Neptune - Gods and Goddesses

Neptune was the Roman god fo the sea. He was not a very powerful god, and little is known about him. He was originally a minor god of fresh waters until he became associated witht he Greek god Poseidon. He may have derived from the Etruscan god of water. Neptune's festival, the Neptunalia, was held on July 23, during the midsummer drought.
