In the spring of 1984, there was an extremely violent volcanic eruption. Lying dormant within the volcano there is an enormous alien spaceship called The Ark. The Ark was filled with giant robots that were in stasis lock. During the eruption, a Decepticon warrior named Skywarp was nudged into the sensor path of the Arks recently reactivated main computer called Teletran-1.
Teletran-1 was not functioning completely. It sent out a probe to determine the dominant lifeforms on this world, so that the Autobots could blend in unnoticed, but the computer did not distinguish the differance between organic and machine, or Autobot and Decepticon. The probe scanned an F-15 fighter plane, at a nearby American Air Force compound, and Skywarp was reformatted to transform into an F-15.
Without hesitation Skywarp began to revive the other Decepticons, beginning with Megatron. Eventually all of the Decepticons were revived. They exit the Ark and left the Autobots in stasis lock, until the treacherous Starscream fired his null-ray at the volcano. Megatron yelled at him, and the Decepticons left. Unfortunately for them, the blast shook Optimus Prime into Teletrans scan beam.
Optimus was reformatted into a Freightliner tractor-trailer. He then aided his fellow Autobots. Once all of the Autobots were revived, they assessed their situation.
Apparently about four million years has passed since the crash. They were stranded on an alien world with Megatrons hand picked squad of Decepticons. The world did not resemble their last glimpse of the planet before going offline. Instead of a totally unmechanical world with large reptiles roaming around, the planet now resembled Cybertron just a little bit more.
Many of the Autobots were quite homesick, but were relieved at the fact that the war was behind them. How wrong they were.
Over the years, because of the Decepticons urge for conquest, there were many battles for energy, Terran technology, and the recovery of survivors planetwide.
The Decepticons recovered a large Cybertronian scientist from the nothern polar region. He was called Skyfire. He was an exploration partner of Starscream millions of years ago. Skyfire was inducted into the Decepticons, but disagreed with their ideals. Starscream was ordered to destroy him, but Hound, Bumblebee, and the human Spike Witwicky saved him. Skyfire became a valuable asset to the Autobots, being one of the few that could fly.
Three warriors from a Decepticon escape pod in the flooded island of Bali in the Pacific rim were found. These three reformatted in the forms of giant robotic insects. They later became known as the Insecticons and joined the Decepticons.
Six warriors were found in England. They were reformatted in the forms of six different construction vehicles. The Decepticons welcomed them into the fold and gave them a new combined form. They were the first of the giant combiners. Together, they were Devastator.
After the creation of Devastator, the Autobots created five new warriors called Dinobots. A handicapped human named Chip Chase was integral in their construction. Due to the limited materials, and the inadequacy of the designers, the Dinobots do not have the fastest processors, but they are highly skilled in chaotic destruction.
After the creation of Devastator, the Decepticons decided to create another combiner named Menasor. Menasor was comprised of a tractor-trailer called Motormaster and four high performance race cars. Motormaster and his Stunticons were designed to combat Optimus Prime and the Autobots on the roads.
The Dinobots and Autobots could not handle the combined might of Devastator, Menasor, and the rest of the Decepticons, so Optimus decided to construct five new warriors to combat the Decepticons in the skies. Silverbolt and his Aerialbots merged into Superion.
Eighteen new Decepticon warriors suddenly arrived in Europe. Two were the first triple changers, Astrotrain and Blitzwing. Then there was six Skyraiders. Ramjet, Thrust, and Dirge were triad two. These three were the nastiest, most unscrupulous warriors of the Decepticon Skyraiders. Gravitar, Silverfire, and Glacier were other three. Ratbat, Seismic, and Condor, three of Soundwaves cassette creations were there, as were the Mini-Spychangers, Highbeam, Goldstrike, Crosswire, X-ray, Plasma, and Nightracer. The whole group was led by Shockwave. Shockwave relinquished his post as Supreme Guardian of Polyhex on Cybertron to the Guardian Overlord, when he decided to search for Megatron and arrived on Earth.
Later Starscream was banished from the Decepticon ranks, for attempting to wrest leadership of the Decepticons away from Megatron. He explored the Earth a little and stumbled onto the wreck of the Nemesis in the South American rainforest. He used five sparks of malcontent Decepticons that were imprisoned within to create the Combaticons. The Combaticons were superiorly armed but closely resembled old Earth combat vehicles and a space shuttle. They could merge into the heavily armed Bruticus. He also recruited Sunstorm, Stinger, Hurricaine, Cinder, and Vertigo. They were traveling in a Guardian robot, called Omega Sentinel. Starscream, once again, attempted to usurp Megatron, but failed miserably. After their defeat, Starscream, the Skyraiders, and the Combaticons were later, readmitted into the Decepticon ranks.
