The Italian coffee. There is not much to say. everybody knows the names, the types, but....have you ever had a real Italian coffee? I 'm not talking about Starback's Italian, I'm talking about the real thing. Here is the menu, the types, the different, oh, and before I go on there is one more thing: its "Espresso" not "Expresso"!

The Italian espresso vocab:

Café Espresso machine
The most common is a plain cup of espresso.
Café  lungo (long coffee)
A little bit lighter coffee.
Café ristretto (narrow coffee)
Stronger coffee.
Al vetro (in the glass)
Coffee in a small glass instead of a cup.
Café corretto
If you want some liqeur with the coffee.
Café freddo
Cold coffee. It is served in a long narrow glass.
Café macchiato
Some milk with the coffee.
Café macchiato caldo
warm milk with the coffee.
Café macchiato freddo
Coffee with cold milk.

(Macchiato means spot, in other words, coffee with a spot of milk. Caldo means, somehow confusing, warm and freddo means cold. In café macchiato caldo you really can see a spot of milk in the coffee.)

 Latte macchiato
Milk with a spot of coffee.
Café cappuccino
1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, and 1/3 frothed milk.
