Links |
Rose Bed Seven is on the North edge of the rose garden, bordering the North Lawn. Along the back side of the bed is a row of raspberries. The roses in Bed Seven are: Mrs. B. R. Cant, Ferdinand Pichard, Great Maiden's Blush, Gruss an Aachen, and Kaleidescope. The roses are accompanied by: slavia 'May Knight', thyme, euphorbia dulcis 'Chameleon', blackberry lily, hardy geraniums G. sanguineum var. striatum, catmint, hardy alyssum 'Goldkugel', coreopsis 'Moonbeam', and a peony. At the end of the bed where the arch enters the North Lawn, two grapes are growing.
| This bed also was not dug and ammended before I planted. Instead, I piled on leaves in the fall and planted the next spring. Since the leaves had not really broken down, I dug them all in. The resulting soil is very light, but very dry. |
