Prayer
What the family didn’t know was that they were about to get some help from
Heaven above. The children started their prayers. Kaze-san gathered them up in a
room. She did a quick headcount. Good. They were all here.
Kaze-san took a breath.
“We’re going to need your help,” she said. The children stared at her with big
eyes.
“My daughter and her family are about to die,” Kaze-san said. “Lucifer has come
back for revenge.” One child raised their hand.
“Are they going to die?” they asked. Kaze-san held up her hand. The little child
lowered their hand.
“I won’t let that happen!” the older angel said. She leaned down and closer to
them.
“Because you are going to help me,” Kaze-san whispered.
“How can we do that?” another angelic child asked. The others stared at her with
their big doe-eyes. Kaze-san only had one word for them.
“Pray.”
They didn’t need to be told twice. The children started to pray. Still, it
wasn’t enough.
Kaze-san went around Heaven looking for more children to pray for Sakura’s
family. Usually, the other angels would have stopped her in her tracks. The
prayers of the children should not be used for something they deem as small.
Kaze-san was ready to argue with them on the issue. To her surprise, no one said
a thing. Some of them looked the other way. Others were encouraging it.
Apparently, they wanted this revenge quest to end too. Kaze-san whispered a soft
thank you as she looked for more children.
By the time she was done, all of the children of Heaven were praying for Spike
and his family. Kaze-san wasn’t sure if this was going to work. The gamble
looked like a long shot. She had only heard of it working once. Even that didn’t
have many details following the outcome. However, everyone was at a desperate
time. Kaze-san saw the future and it was not good.
She decided to follow her late husband’s lead and intervene. The angel closed
her eyes and took in the sounds of prayers. Kaze-san had everything set up. Now
she just needed to wait and see with the outcome.

Meanwhile, Spike and Sakura slowly started to feel the effects creeping into
their bodies. They weren’t going to be the only ones to notice.
