"...we take the horse with a broken spirit to the child with an injured soul...the beauty of witnessing them achieve wholeness once again...is beyond measure, beyond words."
The Spotlite Foundation is non-profit organization dedicated to two causes for the greater good:
Rescuing Abused, Neglected, and Unwanted Horses. We rescue any horse, regardless of breed, mental or physical condition, age, gender, training, or disposition. Starting in the spring of 2013, our primary focus became rescuing horses from kill pens where they were slated for slaughter.
Pairing up rescued horses with a child *in need, where a mutual trust and understanding can be easily formed due to similar histories, which greatly fosters the healing process.
*In need is defined as, but not limited to, a child who: Has a parent battling a potentially terminal illnessHas lost a parent to a tragic accident/terminal illness Lives in low income circumstances Suffers from or is battling an eating disorder Has a parent in prison Is battling a terminal illness Has a parent in substance abuse rehabilitation Suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome Has a parent deployed to Iraq or to another high risk area Is the victim of sexual, emotional, verbal, or physical abuse.
