Dancing ever closer,
Following the shadows running from sunbeams
The shadow runs, ever closer to death
It revels in the fear yet cannot stay away
This is no moth to a flame
But one testing faith
The shadow who has won every time
For where there is light there will ever be dark
Spin around and take the offered fruit
If only to laugh when nothing happens
I have stayed too long
Tempting the bounds of sanity, of rational thought
The blade that is the beam of light grows longer
Reaching for that deadly shadow
Can death itself be killed?
Is the shadow willing to find out?
Perhaps another day
When the light becomes too seductive
But that which keeps me here too long
Keeps the shadow hidden until night returns
