Chapter 3: They have talent!

"Are you nearly finished in there or what?" Kayla yelled, pounding her fist on the bathroom door. Suddenly the door flung open and Jaymi walked out with a towel wrapped around her body. "I'm out... happy?" She snapped.

"Yes" Kayla said, walking into the bathroom and slamming the door shut behind her. It was the day that the twin's were going to audition to get on the show. They were both nervous and therefore they were both snappy. Jaymi walked into her bedroom to get dressed. She looked around at the posters on her walls and then decided that she couldn't get dressed in her room. She grabbed her clothes and then went into Kayla's room, but found that it was just as bad. Jaymi sighed and then walked into the guest room. She closed the door and proceeded in getting dressed. It was one of those now rare day's where Kayla and Jaymi would wear the same clothes. She put on a dark blue tencle skirt and a short sleeved white ribbed top. Kayla would be wearing the same only her skirt was a dark purple. Jaymi slipped on her own brown clog's and looked at her reflection in the full length mirror that was in the guest room. She stuck out her tongue and then giggled. She walked out of the guest room and back into her own where she brushed her hair and applied her make-up. The twins had decided to keep their hair down and to wear little make-up that day. Kayla came out of the bathroom and walked into her own room without saying a word to Jaymi. When she came out though, she was obviously in a better mood. "I really think today will be a good day!" Kayla said, coming into Jaymi's room to use her eye liner. Jaymi nodded her agreement.

"Yeah... but I really wouldn't hold onto the hope that dad will come because I have a feeling that he just wont show. I know Mal told him about it on the phone last night, and I know that he said that he might come but I just don't think he will" Jaymi said.

"Well, you believe what you want. I still think that dad is coming. I really don't know how you can think that Jaymi, considering you were closer to him than I was" Kayla said, turning on her heel she flounced out of the room. Jaymi sat down on her bed. Kayla's words stung and Kayla knew how Jaymi felt about their father. Tears brimmed her eye's as she walked to her dresser and pulled out a old picture of the twins and their father. We all look so happy Jaymi thought why did he leave us? how could he leave us? The questions screamed in Jaymi's mind but they were questions that she couldn't answer and it drove her crazy. Jaymi put the picture away before Kayla came back into her room, Kayla didn't know about the picture and Jaymi didn't want her to know about it. Jaymi went over to her desk and dabbed at her tears with a tissue, making sure that she wouldn't ruin her eye make-up.

"Stop this Jaymi... " she told herself "You don't want that bastard in your life... he's an asshole who hates you and you hate him" she said quietly. But Jaymi didn't believe a word she was saying. About 10 minutes later Kayla came slowly back into Jaymi's room.

"Uh, Jaymi?" Kayla said quietly. "Yes?" Jaymi asked coldly.

"I'm sorry for what I said before, about dad, do you forgive me?..." Kayla said, her voice trailing off. Jaymi had her back to her sister but could tell she was close to tears. Jaymi turned around. Kayla was standing in the doorway, nervously twisting one of her rings around her finger and pulling it off and then putting it on again.

"Do you realize how pathetic you look?" Jaymi asked. Kayla's face broke into a huge grin and she flung her arms around her sister.

"Aghhh I knew you would!" Kayla said happily.

"Hey, get off me!" Jaymi cried, pushing her sister playfully away. Kayla laughed and then the twins finished getting ready.

"What about this one?" Taylor asked as he held up a red and white T-shirt. Isaac shook his head.

"To crumpled" he said. Taylor groaned and threw the shirt to the ground.

"That's the fifth shirt you've rejected Ike! I need some help here!" Taylor cried, throwing a dirty sock at his older brother. Isaac ducked and the sock missed him.

"I don't see what the big deal is Tay. We're just going to watch Jaymi and Kayla audition!" Isaac said. He watched as Taylor picked up a shirt and threw it on. "This'll do" Taylor mumbled.

"Since when do you care about how you look when we're going somewhere that doesn't involve you in any way?" Isaac asked. Taylor looked at the floor and avoided Isaac's gaze.

"Since now... I just wanna look half decent ok?" Taylor finally said. Isaac snorted. "Yeah right. It has to be a girl"

"How do you know?" Taylor asked, not liking where the conversation was heading.

"I just know... I know these things" Isaac said, smiling like he knew something that Taylor didn't. "So, who is it?"

"No one" Taylor said. He walked over to the dresser and picked up a brush but before doing anything with it, he watched Isaac through the mirror. Isaac picked up a dark blue button down shirt and tossed it to Taylor, the shirt landed on Taylor, draping itself on his head.

"Wear that" Isaac said.

"Thanks" Taylor replied, taking the shirt from his head. He then put the brush back on the dresser and took off the shirt that he was wearing. He slipped on the shirt that Isaac had given him and examined himself in the mirror. He then picked up the brush again and as he pulled it through his hair, the image of Jaymi's pretty, smiling face popped into his mind. Taylor smiled. He liked Jaymi... alot and he couldn't help but wonder if she liked him to.

"What are you smiling at?" Isaac asked. Taylor's smile faded and he shook his head.

"Nothin" Taylor mumbled. Isaac shrugged and went back to tying his shoe lace. Taylor went back to thinking about Jaymi. Sure, he thought Kayla was nice and cute but it was Jaymi's personality that drew her to him more.. She wasn't afraid to say anything to anyone and she was easy to talk to.

"Guy's we gotta get going now!" Zac yelled as he came bounding up to the boy's room. "Everyone is ready to go.. including me so move it!"

"All right all right... geez calm down alittle will ya?" Isaac said, standing up. "I'm ready... we just gotta wait for Little Miss Muffet over here"

"Shut up Ike" Taylor said, not in the mood to do or say anything else. Isaac and Zac went and joined their family and Taylor soon followed. The family piled into the car and drove to the station. When Taylor got out of the van, the first person he saw was Jaymi, who was bounding over to his family.

"HI!" She shrieked. She then proceeded to give every member of the Hanson family a hug. The last of them was Taylor. I could have sworn that she hugged me tighter then the rest, Taylor thought. The twins were at the studio with Malcom and their Mom. They still had to wait half an hour before they went on to perform. Jaymi was full of unused energy and was running anywhere and every where. Kayla on the other hand was sticking close to Malcom, not saying much. Jaymi talked to Taylor for a while but then spotted her sister talking to a cute blonde guy and had to go over and say hi herself.

------------------------------------------

"Hi" A male voice said beside Kayla. She jumped, to wrapped up in watching her sister flirt with Taylor to notice that someone had come up beside her. "Hi" She replied looking to her right. There stood one of the most cutest guys Kayla had seen, apart from Tay, she thought.

"So, are you going to be judging or performing?" The guy asked her. He looked about the twins age and was just a bit taller. He had short blonde hair and clear green eyes.

"Uhh, performing, with my sister, how about you?" Kayla asked, trying her best to smile, but she wasn't really in the mood for it.

"I'll be one of the judges" He told her. Before Kayla had a chance to reply, Jaymi came bounding over to them.

"Hi!" She exclaimed, a huge smile on her face and her hand extended for a hand shake. The guy smiled back at her and shook her hand.

"Hey, I take it your her sister?" He asked pointing to Kayla.

"Yeah, how'd ya know?" Jaymi asked.

"Lucky guess, well, I'll see ya around" The guy said and walked off.

"God he was hot!" Jaymi said, grinning. Kayla stayed silent. After another 5 minutes the girls were called on stage.

"Good Luck" Taylor told both girls as they walked on stage. Jaymi started to play "Head over Heels" and after the intro, Kayla started to sing and once again, she mucked up on the word "you". The girls got a large round of applause when they were finished but the twins walked off stage with scowls on their faces. "You guy's were great!" Isaac said.

"Yeah" Taylor agreed. "No we weren't" the twins said together.

"We were crap and it's Kayla's fault" Jaymi snapped. Kayla's mouth dropped open.

"You weren't so perfect yourself you know! I could have sworn that you mucked up on at least 3 chords!" Kayla shouted. Then both girls turned on their heels and stormed off in opposite directions. Half an hour later they were friends again... because they were told that they were on the show.
