We left February 21st, dodging snow storms thru the south and west, stopped in Colorado for a family visit, and continued north up to Canada thru Idaho. We drove through Banff and Jasper Provincial parks. (Have only 2 provinces to go!) That was the beginning of the sighting of a whole page of wildlife with Mountain Sheep and Moose. Through Alberta and BC and Yukon to Skagway Alaska. On the Marine Highway to Haines then onto Alaska proper. We also saw Mt. Goats, Caribou, Sand Hills Cranes but no bears. Too early in March to see bears but 12 nights of the Aurora Borealis and a lunar eclipse with them one night. I have many sketches and photos to upload.
As I sit under my umbrella I am thinking of how beautiful this world is. I love to paint and even as I traveled the states. I painted and drew as we drove (I was in the passenger seat).

I am an oddist and an odd bird. Perhaps a redbird. I love people. Like Bird Woman (Sacajawea) I like to travel the country with my canoe. In 1997 I painted the NavyVan and we set out across the country to see what we could see. He drove and I painted the road pictures while he searched for tri-state points. We have canoed in the Mississippi, the Wabash, the Ohio, the Missouri, the Colorado, the Potomac,(below)
and also the Niobrara and the Tug Fork Rivers. We have explored the most beautiful and unusual places, the corners and tri-corners of the country.
(Here I am standing on the ID,NV,OR monument)
We saw the Sandhill Cranes gathering on the Platte river. It is truly one of the greatest pleasures to be out on the back roads of America. I love to see how others live, to see the beautiful land and the wildlife and the grandeur of nature.

August, 1998
After thousands of miles and adventures, we were
sleeping here in preparation for the MT ND SD tri-state point
search. The night was interrupted by a terrific
thunder and lightning storm. The van shook so hard
I prayed to wake up alive in the morning. The
answer was the rainbow. God's grandeur.
I paint while I ride and while I wander
and I paint some things that are merely dreams.
On my road trips we traveled with my canoe on top of the NavyVan. I have now been to all of the 48 contiguous states as well as to much of Canada and Mexico. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing so much of the world. My next wish is to see Alaska and Hawaii making a complete 50 state total. br>

September, 99
Another trip, a time of renewal and rethinking, driving over 8000 miles in the Navy Van.
We paddled down the lovely Niobrara, in northern Nebraska, and went as far south as Pensacola for delicious swimming in the turquoise surf.
These three photos of the updated NavyVan also
show the newly painted canoe renamed Eon A.C. in royal blue.
The first photo was taken before we left
this past September, just after I repainted and repaired
the door side. I added the Treasure Chest with the help of
my young neighbor, Daniel.
In the second photo, Eon on board, we are stopping at
a Walmart
to take on the last few supplies.
The third shot shows us nooning, like Lewis and Clark,
on a high bluff on the Missouri River.
July, 2000
We saw summer in New Foundland, including Labrador.I have sketches from there too.
Next trip was January 2001, The Florida Keys. New sketches from June and July, 2001 in Western U.S. on top of sketchbook page.
In June of 2001 the NavyVan died, not long after my cat Huey re-emerged into non-physical. Why do all good things have to come to an end? Well they still exist in non-physical, like my love for some people, it is eternally shining. I would like to vibrate in these places forever.
In november I drove to Oregon to rejoin Mike but I was too homesick to stay so we drove home in two vehicles, Mike's new van and my little red Suzuki by way of Mexico and Florida. Saw some Whooping Cranes in Aranzas, texas, got lots of good paintings too. It took us several month on that manuevre.
