Commands
To display NetBIOS nametable: nbtstat -n
IP Addresses
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 <- I think this one is normal with
subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
I think 0 and 255 are reserved, so you should set it to:
192.168.0.1 - 192.168.255.254
These do not work. When I did nbtstat -n, I found the desktop IP
and laptop IP.
It's really 169.254.xxx.xxx
By adding a trusted zone in Zone Alarm for the opposite machine,
it works.
If you look in Zone Alarm for each computer, you can read it's
IP address. Just enable that address on the other machine as a
trusted zone.
About 169.254.xxx.xxx
http://www.computing.net/networking/wwwboard/forum/22962.html
This says that 169.254.xxx.xxx is the correct range !
