Caterpillar Relay
Each team forms a line with each girl holding onto the waist of the girl in front of her. They may stretch out as far as possible as long as they don't separate. When the whistle blows, the girl at the back goes down on her hands and knees and crawls through the legs of the whole group. When she gets to the front, she jumps up, the girl behind her grabs her waist, and the girl who is now at the back goes through. You can either do this down to the finish line or down and back (by reaching the turning point and having all girls spin around so they are facing back the way they came).

Stepping Stones
Supplies: 2 paper plates or pieces of paper per team

Each team stands in a line. The first girl on the team holds two paper plates. On the signal, she puts one plate on the ground and stands on it. Then she puts the other plate down and stands on it. She reaches behind her, picks up the first paper plate, places it in front of her, and moves to it. In this way, she can travel to a target spot and back without stepping on the ground. If she touches the ground, she must start over.

Ping Pong Carry
Supplies: 1 ping pong ball and 1 spoon per team

Each team member must carry the ping pong balanced on the spoon and back a certain distance and back. If the ping pong drops, she must start over.

Orange Walk
Supplies: 1 orange per team

Each team member must carry an orange between her knees a certain distance and back.

Orange Neck
Supplies: 1 orange per team

The first player on the team holds an orange under her chin. No hands! Upon the signal, she passes the orange to the next player, chin. The orange is passed down the line to the last player, then back to the first.

Dress Up Relay
Supplies: 1 set of dress up clothes per team. Adult shirt, pants, hat, boots and coat work well.

Put the dress up clothes on one end of the room. Line up the teams on the other side of the room. The first player from each team runs to her pile of dress up clothes, puts them on and turns around three times. Then she takes them off and runs back to her team. Player two does the same until all team members have dressed up. First team done wins.

Flopping Fish Relay
Cut (or tear) a large fish shape from newspaper, one for each team of brownies. Fold 3 or 4 sheets of paper to make a flapper fan. The first player from each team flaps their fish along a designated route, which you can make easy or difficult. Contestants cannot touch their fish with their flapper. Tip - keep the flapper low down, to flap air under the fish, to speed it along.

Chase the Ace Relay
Supplies: One full pack of playing cards

Remove the Aces from the deck of cards and spread out the other 48 cards, face down. Divide Brownies into 4 groups. Give each group an Ace. The object of the game is for each group to collect its own set of cards, in order. Teams sit/stand together across the room from the cards. The first player finds the 2 of their suit and returns it to the group. The second player finds the 3, until the set is with the group. This can be made more difficult by not allowing the girls to look at what card they are returning with, therefore making the game much longer. To make it easier for younger girls, the cards could be arranged in their suits, but not in numerical order.

Newspaper Shapes Relay
Preparation – Gather sheet of newspaper for each Brownie. Cut simple shapes from the middle of each, such as circles, squares, hearts, etc. Spread the shapes around one end of the room.

Divide girls into teams. Give the teams the external parts of newspaper. One member of each team runs to pick a shape and brings it back. She tries to fit it into a sheet. If it fits, the next team member goes. If not, she returns the shape and picks another. The game continues until one team fits all their shapes.

Grandpa's Socks
Preparation: Collect long socks and place one small object in each. Ie: clothes pin, shell, paper clip, pencil, rubber band, hair clip, etc. Make a list of what is in the socks.

Teams sit together across the room from the filled socks. A caller yells out an item to find. One player from each team crosses the room and starts feeling socks. If the wrong item is pulled out, they lose a turn. The player to pull out the correct item gains a point for their team. Return the item to the sock and mix up the socks. As the next item is called another team member runs to the socks. The team with the most points wins.

Dizzy Bat Race
Supplies: One baseball bat per team

Place the bats at one end of the playing area and line up the teams on the oposite side. Upon the signal, the first player runs to the bat. Holding the bat with her hands, she places the barrel end on the ground and puts her forehead on the end of the handle. She spins around three times and runs back to her team. When she gets there, the second player runs to the bat, and so on.
