What is Women's Action for New Directions?

Our mission is to motivate women to act politically to reduce militarism and violence, and to help redirect excessive military funds towards environmental and social needs.

WAND was formed by Dr. Helen Caldicott in the 1980s as Women's Action for Nuclear Disarmament. Because the focus of the group expanded beyond nuclear issues, "Nuclear Disarmament" changed to "New Directions". We now work on a multitute of issues, ranging from helping elect progressive-minded women to office to helping plan and attending peace rallies.
