March 29, 2003 As reported earlier, Bobby Gant and Peter Paige are featured in the next issue of The Advocate with an interview by Michael Rowe. Thea Gill appears in the current issue of Homemaker's magazine, and will be in the April issue of Flare magazine. With the premiere of QAF airing next week on Showcase, many Canadian weekly publications are featuring the gang in their new issues as well. Check your local newsstands! :) |

March 25, 2003 Guess who showed up at Elton John AIDS Foundation's 11th Annual Oscar party held on Sunday night after the Academy Awards at The Marquee in West Hollywood? None other than our very own Sharon Gless, Peter Paige and Scott Lowell! There are some great pictures of the celebs on WireImage.com. You can search on their names, or simply scroll down until you see the link for Elton's party on the main page. The actors are pulling double duty right now doing appearances and trying to finish up shooting which was originally scheduled to end last week. Seems Peter and Sharon were back on the set in Toronto lickety-split to film scenes on Monday. Ah, the life of a TV star. :) |
March 25, 2003 I've added some new photos of Bobby Gant modeling Body Body Wear clothing by Stephen Sandler to the "So Gay Chic" interview page which was posted previously. Revisit this fun chat session from last season, and check out the HOT new fashions. |
March 24, 2003 Inside Out -- Canada's largest Gay and Lesbian Film Festival -- was one of the sponsors of the QAF 'sneak peek' premiere night in Toronto last week. Visit their Events site to see some pictures of the cast and read more about the evening. Thanks to Linda for the heads up! |
March 23, 2003 I've been told that the cast members who are confirmed for the Perry Ellis and Details/W magazines event at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles on April 12 are Peter Paige, Bobby Gant, Hal Sparks, Michelle Clunie and Scott Lowell (to be confirmed). For more information on these events, and on entering the contest for a walk-on role on one of your favorite Showtime series, visit hyperclubmedia or the Perry Ellis site. |
March 22, 2003 Production for Season 3 is coming to an end, and while shooting has been extended by one week, the cast is ready to wrap up and begin their hiatus. I've updated the production information and events schedule on the appearances page, so take a peek to find out more about the end of shooting, what's ahead for Season 4 (no spoilers, this is just production info) and who will be where in the coming weeks. Those of you who enjoy the music on QAF may be interested to know that Iceland's Sigur Rós will be on Last Call with Carson Daily (NBC) on Wednesday, March 26. The band's name means "Victory Rose" and their unique and haunting music has been featured on QAF in Seasons 2 and 3. Peter Paige will appear on Open Mike with Mike Bullard on Friday, March 28. Our good friend Annie has some new updates on Scott Lowell's website, including a new blog which features a letter from Oscar nominee Michael Moore ("Bowling for Columbine") to US President George W. Bush, and several new photos from the recent DVD signings. For those watching QAF on Showtime, just a reminder that there is no new episode this Sunday night (March 23) because of the Academy Awards. Episode 304 will air on March 30, followed by a chat on Showtime's site with Michelle Clunie. Randy Harrison's chat has been rescheduled for April 6. |
March 20, 2003 Several cast members showed up to greet fans at the Q&A in Toronto last night -- Randy, Hal (both of whom showed up late due to filming), Peter, Scott, Thea, Michelle, and Robert. Co-producer Dan Lipman was also there. Word is everyone looked fabulous, and the audience enjoyed the screening. I hope to have a recap up later this weekend, along with an updated appearance schedule for some events taking place as the cast begins their hiatus. Shooting was originally scheduled to wrap at the end of this week, but rumor has it that they are not quite done. The cast party will go on as scheduled; it is not, however, open to the public (darn!). Showtime has rescheduled the chat with Randy with the following announcement: "We apologize for the unforseen circumstances that prevented Randy Harrison, through no fault of his own, from joining the online chat on Sunday, March 16. Randy wants to make sure he has the opportunity to chat with fans, so we are pleased that he has been rescheduled to chat Sunday, April 6! Make sure to log on to ask those questions that you've always wanted to ask!" Blake Gibbons, who worked with Gale Harold in "Wake" (he played Raymond, Kyle's older brother) has done a 2-hour backdoor pilot (greenlighted) for NBC called "The Legend of Butch and Sundance," produced by Viacom/Once Upon A Time films. It's a drama featuring Western icons Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid that starts from the time they first met. Gibbons will play Durango. The show also stars David Rogers as Butch Cassidy, Ryan Browning as the Sundance Kid, and Rachelle Lefevre as Etta Place. |
March 18, 2003 There's a new article on Thea Gill in Venice magazine (along with a beautiful accompanying photo). Thea talks about the new season, and how the cast has really found their groove. "Everyone is calm, really focused, and we’re all well rested," she says. "It seems like we’ve all settled into our characters now. I think the fact that we're doing a shorter season this year gives us a bit of a break. It's not as exhausting; I mean it's still tiring, but we have a little more time off between seasons now." Sounds like Thea is taking full advantage of that time off; she has several projects on the go with more to come! |
March 16, 2003 Episode 303 update: (if you don't want to be spoiled, don't read any further)... Brian's got new wheels! It's out with the Wrangler and in with the Stingray! Check out the Corvette page for a behind-the-scenes look at QAF's new car. You may have noticed some changes in Brian's loft this season as well... find out more about the set design and what changes are in store. No more blue lights? Say it isn't so! |

March 14, 2003 10percent.com has new QAF merchandise for sale, including the limited edition Rage Gay Crusader Poster, new 2004 calendars, production stills and much more! You can purchase the season two DVD, and pre-order items which have not yet been released. Peter Paige has a new message for fans on his site in The Connection. He talks about finishing up what he describes as "the best season of the show so far," promoting the season premiere and the season two DVD, and working on his directorial debut for this summer... all while trying not to contemplate the possibility of going to war. :( It's a thoughtful message, definitely worth a peek! |
March 13, 2003 There is a new interview with Sharon Gless and Hal Sparks (Lavender Tube: Talk Soap) in "The Weekly News." It's written by Loann Halden, who caught up with the actors at a Miami reception on February 25. |
March 11, 2003 TV Alert for Showcase (Canada): For those who saw the interview Gale did with StarTV on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival in October of last year, you might remember that he recommended a short film named Countdown (2001) which was screened at the Festival. It's produced by Aircraft Productions, directed by Nathan Morlando of Ontario, and features Johnny Goltz, Carlo Rota (QAF's own "Vance Gardner"), Megan Fahlenbock and Kelly Fanson. Addressing the issues of identity and self-discovery, Countdown is described as "a genre-crossing film that follows a bike courier whose dream of becoming an action-film star is within his grasp when he makes a delivery to his favourite film producer." Click here to read more about the film itself. Countdown airs tonight (March 11) on Showcase at 10:00pm. |
March 10, 2003 A new Season 3 screensaver and fabulous wallpapers are available in the "Toys" section of the Showtime website. The Showtime Events page has some new announcements. Showtime Networks is working in conjunction with Embrace Productions Inc. to bring the popular QAF to life via a 12-city US dance club DJ tour called QUEER AS FOLK - THE BAYBLON TOUR. This tour, which runs in May and June of 2003, will recreate Babylon, the vibrant club scene featured in the series, in top clubs across the nation. Attendees will be able to experience first hand the look and feel of Babylon through elaborate productions that feature world renowned DJs, creative sets and lighting displays, live visuals and extensive sound elements. QUEER AS FOLK - THE BABYLON TOUR will be in markets including Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas and Los Angeles during the month of May and San Francisco and Seattle in June. Tour dates and talent line-ups are slated to be announced on March 20th at a Tour Press Conference at the Townhouse Hotel during the Winter Music Conference in Miami. Tour dates and talent line-up will be posted on the Showtime site. On Wednesday, March 19 in Toronto, Canadian fans (or those willing to travel to the great white North, LOL) can get a sneak preview of the premiere episode, bid on Queer as Folk merchandise in a silent auction, and join members of the cast for a special question and answer session. Availability of cast members will depend on the shooting schedule, since QAF will be wrapping up the third season next week and time will be tight. Find out more at the Showcase website. |
March 7, 2003 Gale Harold, Michelle Clunie and Thea Gill enjoy a night out at the Details magazine and Perry Ellis party for QAF at the Tribeca Grand hotel in New York City. Pictures are from the new HX magazine dated March 7, 2003. |
March 7, 2003 The March 2003 issue of Satellite DIRECT (a programming guide exclusively for owners of the DIRECTV system) features an article called "Maturing Folk" by Greg Archer. You can read it online at www.directmagazine.com/dirf2.htm. Spoiler Warning: this article contains some minor plot points for Season 3. |
March 6, 2003 Check out the March 8-14 issue of TV Guide (large edition for cable subscribers) for a new article on Queer As Folk. Randy Harrison is on the cover in a playful pose, and there's a great cast shot inside (see the main page for a sneak peek!). Speaking of TV Guide, the current online issue features an interview with Robert (Bobby) Gant. Be sure to check out the Appearances page for his upcoming events in March, May and June. Hal Sparks informed fans at his recent Showtime chat that he would be launching a new website very soon. No word on whether he will maintain the current URL, halsparks.com I've received a few email inquiries about the ongoing DVD signings and Perry Ellis/Details events; there seems to be some confusion as to when and where fans will be able to see the QAF actors. The confusion is stemming from the fact that not all of the Perry Ellis/Details events are being attended by QAF cast members; there are events taking place in the cities of New York, Las Vegas and San Francisco featuring actors from two other Showtime programs: Soul Food and Jeremiah. There are two major signings involving QAF actors that are taking place this coming weekend: one in Atlanta, and another in Birmingham (Detroit). To clear up any confusion, here are the listings:
Complete list of Perry Ellis/Details Spring 2003 Events (official)
QAF Addiction's list of known QAF Cast appearances/events (unofficial) The official website for Michelle Clunie reports that she has been invited, on behalf of The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association to attend (schedule permitting) the "Cocktails and Conversation" New York Benefit tonight, Thursday, March 6th. More information is available at the NLGJA website. |
March 4, 2003 Check out the Showtime site for a new Redzone Interview with Robert Gant; read the Hal Sparks Chat Transcript from last Sunday night; and go behind the scenes for A Day in the Life with Sharon Gless.
