"They accuse me of being to Linear."
Carl (My roommate), On the opposite sex

"You need to do some serious balls-gathering."
    Serena, On my dating life

"Never trust a dessert."
Matt Beck, On listening to sweets

I felt the need to immortalize some of the little pearls that I have heard lately.

So I'm starting to realize that my life has found a comfortable routine and seems to be in danger of staying there for quite some time. This is basically a good thing, but I have a reservation about it. You see I am not a goal oriented person. Never have been. This isn't a problem while you're still a student. You have all kinds of arbitrary hoops to jump through to make you feel like you're accomplishing things, and you alway have the ultimate goal of no longer being a student.

Now I feel that many of you who may read this are very goal oriented, and have been doing and absolutley fabulous job of achieving many of their goals in recent months. For this (and many other things) you have my admiration.

So have no goals and its kind of unnerving. I don't really want to get promoted at my job. I'm not too keen on buying a house or anything in the near future. I suppose I should focus on Finding that Special Someone, but people keep telling me that it will find you when you're not looking, right?

So my life may not be perfect, but its good enough for me to start comming down with Complacency. You may laugh, but this can be a termial disease in some sense.

Any suggestions?

"The bluest skies you've ever seen are in Seattle
And the hills the greenest green, in Seattle
Like a beautiful child, growing up, free an' wild
Full of hopes an' full of fears, full of laughter, full of tears
Full of dreams to last the years, in Seattle
. . . in Seattle!
Perry Como, Seattle

How true, but not this week! I don't have Nick's skill as a lyricist, but I'm temporarily re-writing at least the first line as: "The most god-awful bugs you've ever had to fix are in Seattle!"

I did a smart thing this weekend, and that was Nothing. Got lot's of sleep, ate a ton, and basically read or vegged out in front of the TV. I do this every once in a while and it always leaves me with like a Teflon coating of cheerfulness. I sat through three of the Dullest Meetings of My Life today, but I was absolutly jazzed the entire time. No, nothing can get me down after an entire weekend of recharging.

Of coarse doing nothing does have its downside. I didn't accomplish anything useful and my body is absolutly SCREAMING at me to exercise it. I'm practically bouncing off the walls as I type this. *BOING!* *BOING!*

Another problem with doing nothing: how do you know when you're done?

PS - Only one month left to Single's Awareness Day!

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around every once in a while you might miss it."
    Ferris Bueller

Too true, and the net result is that often we are left with too little energy for the really important things like Blogging. I know that I have been terrible at putting down anything new on this site, but its not for lack of things to write about.I have a lot of little mental bookmarks and loose ends from my trip back to the east coast I hope to tie off in th near future, but not tonight as I am too tired.

Oh, and you might remember me mentioning (read: obsessing about) a girl from when I went out dancing a few months ago? The one who I danced the better part of the night away with and then asked me to walk her to her car. Yeah, I finally caught up with her again last night. I almost left without asking for a way to reach her, but she managed to stop me from doing something that foolish. ;-) I'll be sure to keep you (pardon the pun) posted.

In the meantime, I've got my pictures from New Year's Eve up in my photoalbum if you'd like to take a peek.
