The USAHS Algonquin made at
least 11 Atlantic voyages and 22 crossings as a hospital ship. The ships
newspaper was a way for the medical staff to document the crossing and to keep
the patients informed of events occurring aboard ship during the voyage and what
to expect upon arrival at the ports of debarkation at New York, NY ot
Charleston, SC.
Two documents contained in this
webpage, the Atlantic Breeze and the
Barnacle give us a
glimpse of life aboard the USAHS Algonquin nearly 56 years ago. To view
