THE UFF gang which murdered 21-year-old postman Daniel McColgan is being linked to at least four drug related murders in Scotland, the Irish News has learned. And a senior security source last night said the UFF gang’s brigadier is believed to be one of the north’s biggest drug smugglers. The brigadier is understood to use connections in Scotland and the fascist group Combat 18 in London to smuggle drugs into the north, mainly through Portrush. It is also understood detectives are now investigating the possibility that Scottish-based drug dealers may have smuggled ‘clean’ guns into the north for the East Antrim UFF leader. Father-of-one Daniel McColgan was murdered by members of the UFF’s East Antrim Brigade as he arrived at work in the loyalist Rathcoole estate on Saturday January 14. But the UFF unit, which is led by one of the north’s notorious killers, is now being linked to at least four drug related murders in Scotland. The bodies of Scottish drug dealers John Hall (45) and David McIntosh (33) were found on waste ground near a go karting arena in Larkhall, Lancashire, last October. Both had been tortured before being shot dead. Mr Hall and Mr McIntosh are understood to have been involved in drug dealing with the UFF leader but were killed when they were found to have been swindling him out of money. The dead men are understood to have been smuggling drugs into Northern Ireland under the cover of greyhound racing. The UFF leader is also suspected of ordering the deaths of two other suspected drug dealers, John Nisbet and William Lindsay, who were found shot dead in East Lothian two years ago. In the mid-1990s he deposed the then South East Antrim brigadier who had opposed his drug dealing. Since then there have been a number of gun attacks on the home of the former UDA leader. “He has big drug links in Scotland but he also uses the UFF’s London unit, which is largely made up of Combat 18 members, to import drugs to Northern Ireland,” the security source said. “Most of his drugs comes into the country through Portrush and from there they are sold right down the coast. “He is a shrewd customer and will never personally get his hands dirty himself but there is no doubt that he is the main man behind it all. “It is well known in loyalist circles that he is one of the main players in the drugs’ world but that doesn’t seem to matter. “No one seems to be willing or able to stop him,” the security source added. |
