June 8, 1937-Blücher is launched.

September 20, 1939-Blücher is commissioned and begins training operations immediately afterwards.

September 1939-Blücher undergoes training operations in the Baltic Sea until April of 1940.

April 1940-After completing the trial runs in the Baltic Sea, the Blücher embarks toward Oslo as part of Operation Weserübung. The cruiser picks up German Army troops in Swinemünde and departs for Oslo with the cruiser Emden, Lützow, several torpedo boats and the 1st R-Flotilla to form Squadron 5.

April 9, 1940-Blücher and Squadron 5 reaches the Oslo Fjord, where, after reaching the Drobak Narrows at 0520, the squadron is fired upon guns of the nearby fortress of Oskarborg, firing 11 inch guns which succeed in heavily damaging the Blücher and causing several fires throughout the ship. The cruiser is finally sunk by several Norwegian torpedo batteries shortly before 0723. The wreck of the Blücher is still in the same location as where it was sunk as of today, but is losing oil, and possibly could threaten the marine environment of the Oslo Fjord.
