The Rolie Polie Olie Float

Our float consists of a wagon, built with thick card board for top platform. Around the platform we used carpet foam covered with blue wrapping paper. We then adheared printed background artwork designed by Julie to give illusion of outer space. We designed and cut out various sized round shapes to illustrate planets, and cut and pasted various clip art of Rolie Polie Olie cast of characters to background art. We covered with acetate to protect artwork from tearing. On the top piece of card board, we cut a hole for kids to insert feet into wagon, and covered cardboard top with white paper, then covered with white fabric backing to give an illusion of clouds. In back of float, a compartment exists for a small stereo to play the Rolie Polie Olie Theme song. We placed two side speakers on top of float under white backing material to project sound, operated by a 12V battery also in rear compartment. A few colored door knobs (green,blue) used on top of float to secure strapes for seat belts for children. The teapot in back of float was made from paper mache. To hold our sign, and empty wrapping paper cardboard tube inserted into float, and old broomstick connected to sign. The broomstick then inserted into cardboard tube. Stick and tube were wrapped with christmas ribbons.
