Splinter
Sensi--Master--Father

Splinter is a gentle old rat who looks after and brought up the turtles from when he found them in the sewer, crawling around in the ooze. He meditates alot, is a quiet sort of rat with a good temper and a sence of humor for not only things that happen to him or others but things he does himself. He practises the art of ninjitsu, which is a life comitment, and passes on his views, love, and the martial arts end of things as well, to his sons, the turtles. Splinter was an old rat when he was transformed by the ooz, and a very wise one. His wisdom and knowledge, although sometimes barried under the dust of age to the turtles, is solid and true, and gets them through many things. Splinter is also a fairly peaceful rat, preferring to take a defensive path and live his life in a gentle way. Bringing up the turtles gives him great joy and makes him feel a little younger, being suronded by their youth. At first it is hard to teach them ninjitsu, and to get them to understand the concepts of meditation and such, but Splinter has much practise, thinks about it alot, and in the end, is the best mentor the turtles could have had. He is patient and kind, although sometimes gets frazzled by the escapades of the youthfull turtles, they get to know his weak spots and were he just won't give in by the time they get older, like we all do with our parents, and even though he is somewhat creaky, manages to maintain a certain degree of control in the houseold. Splinter's tale is a bit a sad one, his own master, Hamato Yoshi, was killed with his lover by a man named Oroko Saki. Saki was always Hamato's enemy competing in everything along with ninjitsu, and he too loved Mei Chi. They were going to fight for her hand, but Mei Chi insisted that she and Yoshi flee to America for she did not want to see him killed. Saki followed them, however, and killed them both. They had taken Splinter with them, in Japan Splinter's cage had been hung in Yoshi's dogo because he found it funny the way his pet would mimick his movements from his cage, along with his master. When Oroko Saki killed Hamato, Splinter clawed his face with his hands and teeth. Angry, Saki swipped off his ear, and then left. Splinter mourned Hamato, and then found his way into the sewer, looking for food, were he unexpectedly found the turtles, crawling around in the ooz, which he too crawled into, thus getting transformed with the turtles, and starting another happy life bringing them up and training them like he had learned from Hamato, although, not quiet so from example, for some of the moves were rather difficult to prefrom for a rat of his age, but more by instruction. Splinter has an exceptance of things, and an enjoyment of them, that was the base of which the happy home was built on, through the troubles the turtles faced about who they were, it was there, creating a sort of balance in which otherwise might have been a large turmoil at some points, which there were some of, but Splinter calmed them down, he loved them.
