In The New Blood, Jason finally meets a worthy adversary. This time around, telekinetic Tina accidentally releases Jason from a watery grave, setting the killer loose upon a nearby bunch of teenagers.

The first two-thirds of the film is standard fare, but the climax of the movie pits "brains against brawn" as Tina uses her mental powers to try and stop Jason's murderous reign. In the end, Tina brings the house down, and then sends Jason back to the depths of Crystal Lake with the help of her dead father(!).

Director/make-up man/actor John Buechler (The Sleeping Car) heads up this solid addition to the slasher series by adding a "comic book" feel to the story. Buechler has worked on the horror genre's "big three"- F-13, Halloween, and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
