Pictures While Stationed in Germany
The family clique
Frankfurt am Main
The name 'Preungesheim' (usually said Proing-es-heim) was a 'Stadtteil' or neighborhood in the north of Frankfurt, at the end of the U-Bahn (which would be an "El train" in Chicago) line number 5. I usually rode it into Frankfurt, or I would sometimes ride a bike instead.
Jim and Sean My — Short-term, as usual — boyfriend, Jim. (Eh'hem, from Pennsylvania) For some reason, I appreciated him a lot more after we broke it off. One reason we did, in part, is that I still had someone else on my mind — Christoph, even though that wasn't going anywhere. Jim and I stayed friends for about the rest of the time I was in country, but we didn't really get many chances to see each other because he lived in a different city, and we'd only meet-up by chance in Frankfurt. Glad I lived there. |
The Todd He invited me to Bayern (Bavaria) for Christmas, and he was known for his kitchen efficiency. We had met by chance in Mannheim. |
On Three . . . This is a shot taken (like the below also) at a restaurant in a small 'Dorf' (village) for Christmas of 1986. I'm telling the camera operator (for about the third time) to click on the count of three (for an unannounced reason). The first time or two was snapped before I was ready, so Todd is getting suspicious by now. So this is the before picture. |
You Didn't ! And this is the Aftermath — at which Todd's wife, Janet, is having a good — "I can't believe he did that" — laugh about it. The watch seen on Todd's wrist he had gotten for Christmas, and he lost it because he got pretty trashed that night. He probably accidently dropped it in the royal throne. I think that he thought I took it. I didn't, but whatever the case or reason, we never met up again. It was a very good time, though. Glad they invited me. |
E.M. Blues and Joys Although Stevens, a workmate of Ed's, wasn't always in such a pensive mood as I purposely caught him in this photo, it seemed to be his most often demeanor. The girl's name I think I remember, but I'm not going to say it until I look it up for sure. I met her sort of late in my tour. She was most kool. |
The Girlz A shot taken at the club with some of the girls. They invited me and Ed to go all over — to camping trips in the Hessen hinterland, to the bars in Frankfurt and Mannheim, to the E.M. Club, and to German restaurants. Darla and I (we almost got married) both went to Kentucky/Tennessee after Frankfurt; she first. |
Certainly there are a bunch more pictures I could stick on here, but I had to pick just a few. And, Ed, we have to skip that one picture, if you know what I mean ;-) |
