Pictures of My Junior College Days
DuPage County, Illinois
Most of these pictures were taken during junior college or just out of high school (For a couple of them, I might still be in high school; just like I could have been out already for one or two on the last page.) This is when I finally got a good camera (Pentax ME Super). In high school I had only had that off-brand 110 pocket (junk) camera. My parents were worse. They usually took the pictures with a 126 Instamatic and then left the film in the camera until it changed some strange color.
My high school buddy, Rick, and I fresh back from a train-hop. We
were plenty tired and actually dirtier than we look here. I can't remember
exactly when it was taken must be just out of high school out, as I
still have long hair.
For those of y'all that bike the Great Western Trail, this is was taken between the Grace Street and Charlotte Avenue crossings. Those "railroad" telephone poles are long gone by now. |
My date for the Christmas party at work. She gave up on me quick,
though, because I was way too hesitant for her. She moved at a high speed.
Her name was Tiffany, and she and her friends had some joke about me . . .
having to do with "Emma" in the then-current Fruit of the Loom
commercials. I can't say I know what the joke was or I've
forgotten.

Another of my friends Rick (there were four at one point) on the beach in southwestern Michigan. We could drink because it was one of those private beaches. And we did. We camped not far from this beach, which had a small lake, and there we "swam" at night. |
Here I am at the beach in Michigan with my calves buried in the sand. I am bending to the sand and back up in this picture, and Rick or Danny got a laugh out of it and snapped this picture. |
My dog was a big part of my
early young life. Here's some pictures of her, which was our second dog.
("Cocoa," our first dog, was hit by a car when I was eleven.)
Ginger was usually in costume for pictures. |
A picture of Tammy taken in 1982. We met at work, went to junior college (College of DuPage) together, and we had gone out for awhile. |
After I was done with junior college, I joined the Army. While I had many times considered joining the military, I was planning to move to New Orleans (because I thought it would be new and kool). But a recruiter called my sister, but he ended up talking to me. I had also seen a Marine recruiter, but picked the Army. Those pictures follow in the next section. (From the junior college page) |
