A Perfect Circle is
the brainchild of
Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel, who worked as
guitar tech for Tool, Smashing Pumpkins and Nine Inch Nails. The band
(including Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar, Paz Lenchantin on bass and Josh
Freese on drums) performed together for the first time in 1999 at a
benefit concert in Los Angeles and released their debut album, Mer De
Noms, on Virgin records the following year.
