Thesis and the Minotar
The Minotar was the son of the bull of Marathon. Hercules brought the bull of Marathon to Crete. The bull then left behind its son who was half man and half bull. This creature was called the Minotar.
Minotar meant, "Bull of Minos" who was the King of Crete. A clever inventor and architect made a maze under the castle of King Minos. This maze was called the Labyrinth. The Minotar loved man's flesh. The King sacrificed men each year so the Minotar could be happy. The men lost their way but the Minotar knew all the ways.
There had been a big argument in the city of Athens. King Minos's son had been killed there. His son had been killed the Marathon Bull. King Minos got mad at King Aigeus so King Aigeus had to give seven young men and seven young women to the Minotar to eat each year.
It was time to give the 14 young people to the Minotar but King Aigeus's son, Thesis, said that he would go in the place of the people and kill the Minotar. After reaching Crete, King Minos's daughter, Ariadne, fell in love with Thesis. Then she soon found out that he was going to go fight the Minotar in the Labyrinth. She started thinking how was he going to fight the Minotar and get out if the Labyrinth. Then she asked a person named Daidalos and he said to give him this spool of thread to him and unroll it wherever he went and to come out just roll up the tread. Then she also gave Thesis a sword. For exchange for this gracious help, Ariadne asked him to take her away with her. Thesis agreed. So Thesis went in the Labyrinth and started. Soon after and long walk, he found the Minotar.
He jumped on it and took his sword and killed it. Then he took the spool of thread and left the Labyrinth. Then he met Ariadne and he took her away.
Everyday, King Aigeus looked for his son's return. .Thesis was supposed to put up a white sail on his ship if he was still alive and a black sail that his crew was to put up if Thesis was dead. Thesis forgot to put up the white sail when returning. His dad saw the black sail and thought Thesis died. He had a heart attack and died on a rock. When Thesis came home, he was sad that his dad died. But later, he was crowned King of Athens.
