You will make a Journal entry describing the commoner's place in Medieval times.

The Process:

Materials: You will need your journal and a pencil to record what you learn.

Step 1. Before we go exploring, open your journal to the fourth page, or if you have done the drawing your shield activity, you will be on the fifth page.

Step 2. On this page you need to write at the top:

"Commoners"

Step 3. In this journal entry, you will need to make notes of:

**What is a commoner, a peasant and a villein?

**What is a freeman and a serf?

**What jobs do they do?

**What kinds of houses do they live in?

**What foods do they eat?

and

**What was a woman's life like as a commoner?
