Friend squire, to be a knight takes reflection. That means you must think about what you do and do not do.

Others will always look at your work.

I have asked you to keep a journal for me to show me what you know of our people and our kingdom.

Below are the things you and I will look at when you have finished to decide whether or not you have earned the title of knight.

Keep this in mind as you complete your journal, but do not fill this out until Day 7!

On that day you will have a special rubric with a link to hand it in.

Journal rubric:

This is scoring on how much care you took in putting your journal together.

I could have done better.

1 point

I did well, but still could have done better.

2 points

I did my very best and it looks nice!

My journal has been neatly folded and stapled.
The pages might be crumpled, the pages are very crooked and the staple points are on the outside of the book.
The pages are a little crooked, but they aren't crumpled. The staple points are on the outside of the book.
The pages are very close to being straight and the staple points are on the inside of the book.

My journal has pages for the following sections:

Page 1. Children lives

Page 2. Rich and poor children, and a written section at the bottom telling about your day as a medieval child.

Page 3. Knights

Page 4. A picture page of yourself as a knight.

Page 5. Commoners

Page 6. Nobles

Page 7. Clergy

Page 8. Castles

Page 9. Feudalism

Page 10. Written letter to King One-Click.

I forgot some of the sections, and I didn't write the titles neatly at the top.
I did all of the different sections on different pages, and I wrote the titles- but did not write them in my best writing.
I wrote all of the different sections on different pages, and I used my very best writing for the titles.
