A knight would fight for honor and glory.

A knight would have to fight other knights if they challenged the king or queen's right to rule or their honor. Sometimes he might have to fight for his own honor as well.

Did you know that a famous knight named Sir Edward Dymoke served Queen Elizabeth I by riding into her coronation banquet (a celebration when she first becameQueen). He rode in in full armor and threw his metal gauntlet (glove) down on the ground to challenge anyone who wouldn't believe in the Queen's right to rule!

Sometimes knights fought for glory. Most often these were in tournaments. Each knight would want to be the winner because his name and family coat-of-arms would become more recognized, and there were rare prizes to be won such as shields with gold and silver on them!
