LESSON~
April
29,2001
Today a treasured
moment, never to forget
Touched my
spirit deeply, not to my regret
Watching my
precious grandson, the wind upon his face
Rapture in
the sun for him, a perfect state of grace.
He wobbled
and he tottered, his little legs they flew
Feeling for
the first time, grass with morning dew.
Dancing through
the dandelions, growing all around
As I gazed,
a change of heart grew profound.
No longer
did I see the dandelions the same
Seen through
a child’s eyes, lovely they became
Mounds of
glorious yellow that cover the ground
Magnificent
flowers, new discovery he had found.
Watching in
awe, in his innocent delight
Reverence
for life, in every new sight
For in that
brief moment, I saw through his eyes
Wonder for
all that is under God’s skies.
Saw his first
spring flower, a yellow tulip bloomed
Had to touch
the petals, his attention it consumed
Leaned to
smell the fragrance, batted at the stem
Giggled in
delight, as it bounced back at him.
In these treasured
moments, I grew to understand
Wisdom that
was shown to me, through a baby’s hand
Discovering
the beauty in the ordinary of the day
Changed my
heart forever, lesson came to stay.
