VISIT~
My mom visited
at my grave today
Sitting under
the tree, she had so much to say
She talked
and shared her day with me
The same as
it always used to be.
She straightened
my flowers, brushed the dust away
Tending to
my things, that being her way.
She fussed,
and straightened, teardrops rolling down
Her tears
are always silent now, splashing to the ground
I know that
this is her way, of still caring for me
Her baby boy
to her I’ll always be.
Reading through
my journal, seeing who has come to call
Wishing that
no one had to come at all.
She continued
to share her thoughts with me
I was standing
right next to her, only she could not see
I leaned down,
and whispered in her ear
Go home now
Mom, for I am not here.
I am at home,
where my memory lives on
I am in the
clouds, and the first ray of dawn
I am in the
whisper of the wind, the face of my child
As she listened,
I saw the beginnings of a smile.
She slowly
rose to her feet; her visit came to an end
She whispered
I love you, till I come again
As she turned
to walk away, I rang the chimes
I will love
you Mom, till the end of time.
Although
many people do not believe that we communicate with loved ones once they
have passed, it has been my experience to hear and know of Cory’s presence
many times. I feel his presence strongly, and many times he has been
with me to
give comfort and reassurance especially around the holidays, and times
when the sadness gets more than I can bear.
He has sent the
fragrance of flowers, whispered in my ear; I have even felt the warmth
of his hand on mine. Stay open to the signs that your child may send you.
It may be through a butterfly, a whispered word, or a special song on the
radio, just when you are thinking of them. Our children do live on, and
they continue to love and care for us, by sending us these messages of
love.
Keep your ears
and heart open, and I hope that you also, receive a precious visit from
your child.
