Cindy Jollimore
Many Monarch Park alumni, and Class of 1979 members in particular, will be saddened to hear of the passing of Cindy Jollimore. Short of her 39th birthday, and far too soon, Cindy was taken on February 8, 2000, after a ten-month battle with metastatic melanoma.
After graduating from Monarch, Cindy followed in the footsteps of her father, the legendary Keith Jollimore -- most notable for his years with Lighthouse. As a jazz singer and flautist, she worked around Toronto and across Canada until the mid 80's, making regular appearances on CBC's John Allen Cameron Show, and spending considerable time in studios from Toronto to Halifax doing radio jingles. If you had a radio on at all in the early 80's, you probably heard her.
Cindy married in 1985 and settled in Toronto, where she continued to sing on a part-time basis until 1989, and where she spent her remaining years happily raising a family with her husband, Jack Brisson (MPSS, Class of 1978).
All who knew Cindy in even the most peripheral way understood what a truly special person she was: her innate kindness, gentle manner and essential goodness touched virtually everybody fortunate enough to cross her path. Her razor-sharp intelligence and knack for seeing life clearly guided loved ones and acquaintances alike out of jam after jam, and her sublime wit was always employed with judicious wisdom. Those of us who knew this angel-on-earth understand the breadth and vastness of the world's loss now that she's gone. Each of us is lucky to have been part of her life.
Cindy also leaves behind three beautiful sons: Jarret (14), Elliot (10), and Cale (3).
Jack and the boys would be happy to hear from any of Cindy's old friends: sneetch@sprint.ca .
