Is The Super NES Dead?
As far as I know, the Super NES will not get anymore new games. So, yes, (if anyone cares) the Super NES is a dead system ... unless someone announces a new game, which no one has done as of yet. The newest game, however, has just been released (in either November or December, I'm not sure). It is Frogger and you can pick it up at your nearest toy store if you want.

January 30 According to Nintendo, the Super NES is officially a "dead" system. It has lasted a good 7 1/3 years. Nintendo also said that there will (fortunately) be a few more re-released games out soon. You can look out for those. And, just for the record: Nintendo's last game for the Super NES was Kirby's Dream Land 3 (in North America), Rare's last game for the Super NES was Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble, and the last game for the Super NES was Frogger (by Majesco).
December 10 In a recent e-mail, Nintendo has said (vaguely) that the Super NES is not dead, yet. Nintendo is focusing on the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color, right now. That is where the demand is. There may be one or two more new Super NES games on the way, or maybe not. Majesco has a certain interest in the Super NES, since that company just released Frogger. Who knows? Majesco could release Super NES versions of Breakout and Centipede. Also, remember that Nintendo could release Kirby's Super Star Stacker and Wrecking Crew '98. Only time will tell. If there are any announced Super NES games, you'll see it here on KNP.
December 7 Frogger, by Majesco and Morning Star Multimedia, is now released.
December 5 Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble, by Nintendo and Rare, F-Zero, by Nintendo, Tetris & Dr. Mario, by Nintendo, and Vegas Stakes, by Nintendo, are now re-released.
November 4 Space Invaders, by Nintendo and Taito, Super Mario All-Stars, by Nintendo, Super Mario Kart, by Nintendo, and Tetris 2, by Nintendo, are now re-released.
October 1 Majesco has announced that it will release Frogger this fall for the Super NES.
September 29 Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, by Nintendo and Rare, Kirby's Avalanche, by Nintendo and Hal, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, by Nintendo, and Super Star Wars, by Nintendo and JVC and LucasArts, are now re-released.
August 18 All five of the Konami games (listed below) are going to be re-released by Majesco this fall. Majesco will also be re-releasing other Super NES games this fall. Look in the software section to see what they are.
July 10 Five Konami games will be re-released July 17th by Majesco. They are Animaniacs, Castlevania: Dracula X, Contra III: The Alien Wars, Tiny Toon Adventures: Wacky Sports, and TMNT: Tournament Fighter.
May 28 Nintendo has announced that it will be selling the Super NES Core System (that's the "new" Super NES design console with one controller) for only $49.95. Nintendo also announced that it will be re-releasing more Player's Choice games. The titles are (still) not yet known.
