~~~~~~ ~~
No elbow room when all of the in-laws visited. It became interesting, if anyone came in from the garage during a meal. The wood subfloor was covered with terracotta ceramic tile. My wallpaper had to change somewhat. I didn't have enough of the fruit and floral print to bring it down to chair rail height. I didn't have enough of the red pin stripe either. After endless and futile searching for the same paper, I choose to change the color (yellow pin stripe) and raise the height of the stripped paper. With a little creative wallpaper planning and finding a border that matched, I was set. Though still small, the extra square feet allowed for a "mud area" and easier access to the basement laundry, exercise and play areas. We would have loved to have the same floor throughout the kitchen. The ceramic was too expensive and the other place and press tile was discontinued. So we settled... but are satisfied.
