After the wheel has been sanded and/or media blasted, remove all sand and other residue from the wheel and make sure that it is dry. I used Krylon brand zinc rich auto primer (gray) and obtained great results. Below you will see a picture of the wheel after being primed. Make sure you completely primer the entire wheel including the back (inside of wheel). If there are any imperfections like runs or specks of dirt, sand the area with 400 gr sand paper and re-apply the primer. I found that it was better to use several light coats than one heavy coat.
After the primer is completely dry ( I waited 24 hrs), you can apply the initial coat of silver paint. I used Dupli-color brand in Silver metallic (part # T 229), and got a very good match to the factory color. I applied three thin coats of paint, waiting 12 hrs between coats. After you are satisfied that the wheel is completely covered, let it dry for 24 hrs.
