OVERVIEW: Shampoo is one of the most loveable characters in Ranma 1/2. One thing that is attractive about her is her cute voice. She is not very fluent in the English (or Japanese) language and talks in choppy sentences. Her beauty is astonishing as is her skill in the martial arts of her Chinese Amazon tribe. However, behind Shampoo's beauty and cuteness, there is an violent Amazon warrior who can kill a person in a second. Shampoo is a major character who has an odd love for Ranma....
HISTORY: Ranma met Shampoo while hiking through China in his girl-form. He and Genma were hungry so they stopped at Shampoo's home village where a tournament of all the Amazon female fighters was going on. Genma and Ranma were so hungry that they accidently ate the prize Shampoo was about to win. Ranma then says he will fight Shampoo for the prize. Ranma easily defeats Shampoo. Therefore, she gives him the "KISS OF DEATH". The "KISS OF DEATH" is a vow to track down a person to the ends of the Earth and kill them. Shampoo does just that because the Chinese Amazon tribe is a very honorable and proud tribe. When Shampoo catches up to Ranma in Japan, she falls in love with Ranma's boy-form because he accidently beat her in a fight. Chinese Amazon Law commands that any female of the Amazon tribe who gets defeated by a male must marry that male. Later, Shampoo herself falls into a Jusenkyo cursed spring of drowned cat (Maoniichuan). Now, Shampoo tries to find ways to marry Ranma through tricky means and violence. FIGHTING STYLE: Shampoo is very skilled in hand-to hand fighting and is very speedy and certainly very strong. She once easily defeated Akane and always beats up on Mousse. Shampoo is part of the aforementioned "Chinese Amazon Tribe", which is one of the most deadly tribes of martial artists on the globe (which has over "3000 years on its side"). Shampoo is one of the strongest of this tribe seeing as how her first appearance was her winning the yearly tournament that the tribe holds. She also lives with the leader of the tribe, and the second most strongest character in the Ranma 1/2 series, Cologne.WEAPONS: Shampoo's main weapons are called "bonbari", which look like big beach balls attached to sticks. However, these are very heavy weapons that are capable of breaking through walls and sending opponents sailing across the horizon. Shampoo also sometimes uses various swords, knives and bows-and-arrows.
ATTACKS: XI FANG XIOA: Also called the
"Memory Loss Attack", this attack was used on Akane.
This is a very special attack only known by the Amazon
Tribe. This attack requires the knowledge of memory-related
pressure points on the skull and shampoo that is imported
from China. Shampoo is very skilled at executing this
attack: First, Shampoo must put the special shampoo on
the victim's head and lather it. While she is doing this
she must put pressure on various pressure points on the
skull. While using this attack on Akane, it only took
Shampoo 3 seconds to do all of this. Once the attack is
completed the victim is left unharmed, but depending on
what pressure points were touched, the victim will forget
certain thing. Shampoo made Akane forget Ranma. (Note:
There is an antidote for this attack.)
Girl-Away Powder: This is only one of the many
secret Amazon herbs that can help out in a fight. "Girl-
Away Powder" is just what it sounds like: put a packet
of this powder on someone and it will send off a repulsive
aroma that will make any female so noxious that they will
attack whoever has the powder on them. The "Girl-Away
Powder" was used by a Chinese empress on any male who
made her mad. Shampoo gave this to Ranma as a gift and
said it was to "protect him".
Shampoo also knows various pressure points on the body
that can maim or kill a person. Being a part of 3000 years
of Amazon Chinese history, I'm betting Shampoo knows many
more special attacks.
