Hey, my name is Darcy, nice to meetcha. I grew up Ohio and came to New York for college, for obvious reasons. I went to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn where I got my Bachelors in Film with a concentration in Animation- then I moved on up to the Bronx.

I knew I wanted to be either an artist or make movies when I was super little, but the decision to pursue animation didn't happen until I saw Disney's The Little Mermaid. Thats when it occured to me "duh, I could be an animator! Best of both worlds!" That thought was immediately followed with "Oh man, but thats a lot of drawings, over and over and over again..." But, I grew up to be more patient and to draw faster, so it no longer seemed tortuous- plus, creating life and infinite universes is FUN (mwaha ha haaaa!):)

So right now, at this point in my life, my career has begun and it's working out nicely so far, and I'm doing freelance work and developing some of my own prospects in the mean time. On to the boring stuff:

ARTISTS

Well, as one may be able to guess, I love art and looking at things, it comprises a big part of my life..... My favorite artists are the the left; there are a lot more that I like, but I'm being picky and only listing the ones that grab me for some reason. My favorite subject matter is people.. i love drawing people, watching them be weird, watching them be normal, drawing them being weird and normal, doing portraits and caricatures, and designing new people:) Since I'm always staring at people's faces as I pass them, I have gathered quite a collection of celebrity sightings, which I have complied here into my List of Celebrity Sightings, and their Corresponding Categorization.

Another big thumbs up in my book is travel- I have major wanderlust. I guess it runs in my family -my grandparents used to live in Africa, Syria, Afghanistan, etc. before I was born, and my mom and dad visited Nepal as well before I was born. When I was three my mom, my brother, and I went to Africa to visit my grandparents, and my mom brought home a lot of stuff from there to add to the nepal stuff she had already, so I've grown up looking at wooden masks and brass shivas, and I LOVE it all! That's why theres always a many armed lady on my site, it's not shiva but it's similar, and it's stuck in me head:) I have been lucky and have been able to travel overseas a few times in my life, the first being Africa when I was three (I have to go again now cuz I don't really remember anything), then later I went to Paris, Belgium, and Amsterdam with school, then Stockholm with my dad later on. And now I have to see the rest of the world *evil plotting*

Unfortunately it's not the easiet thing ever to just GO to these ridiculous places, so lately my wanderlust has been satisifed with road trips - I'm making a webpage dedicated to it . i'm itching for the next one already O.o

I also love squeezy animals! awww. The ones to the left are the best one's you ever meet, they do or did grace me with their company for years and years when I lived in ohio:)

What else should everyone on this Earth love? BOOKS. I'm not talking Steven King books either, I'm talking BOOKS. Here is a list of books that everyone on this Earth should read and think about (ok out of the ones I've read anyway)
Firstly, Anything by Kurt Vonnegut. Especially Slaughterhouse Five
The Bell Jar and Ariel by Sylvia Plath. And the Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath if you have the time
The World According to Garp and A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving.Especially Garp.
The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
Anything by Oliver Sacks- he's a neurologist and physician that does case studies of the weirdest crap
in the world that can happen when your wires get crossed. My favorites is "The Man Who Mistook His Wife
for a Hat
. He also wrote Awakenings Which I haven't read yet, but was a great movie.
Animal Farm by George Orwell. I also happen to dig the cartoon :P
On the Road by Jack Kerouac. Now HE knows how to road trip.
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. It's so goood. You start out hating the guy, and end up crying everywhere. The cover of my version says it's 'The only convincing love story of our century," and I'm inclined to agree.
The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner. It took me three tries to understand the beginning, but i'm glad I got it.
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. It's insane and hilarious.
Life Is So Good by George Dawson and Richard Glaubman. This book really helps to put things into the correct perspective, and it also succeeds in making me feel supremely lazy. The back cover has what is now one of my favorite photos of all time.
Lord of the Flies by William Golding. o.O
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. I cried for an hour after that, there is also a really funny reference made to it in On the Road I think:)
The Tin Drum by Gunter Grass. It's insane and hilarious as well.
