Latest News: Our Annual Chinese New Year Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, March 8th, 2008 at Oriental Century Palace Chinese Restaurant.

The purpose of this Web Site is to allow those wanting to know about us the opportunity to find out more. As well to keep participants, members, friends informed with news and updates.

We are a non-profit volunteer group, consisting of Hakka Chinese people in the Greater Toronto Area, wanting to make a difference in the community, especially among our seniors. Our seniors have given so much of themselves for our future, and it is time for us to help them in return.

OUR MISSION

To build a strong united and supportive seniors community by encouraging our seniors to live independent and enriched lives. We aim to enhance the overall health and well-being of our seniors through meaningful activities, social gatherings and recreational programs.

Our volunteers strive to provide quality care and support with enthusiasm, while growing to care more for our seniors.

SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS

Hakka Helping Hands volunteers will organize a wide range of activities such as socials, community based programs, entertainment and more. Programs such as Tai-Chi can be organized by request of seniors (numbers permitting). Socials will be held monthly where seniors can participate in organized activities such as games, Mahjong, movies or just plain socializing with new and old friends. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

ADULT DAY PROGRAMS

Programs will be organized and offered through existing community centers. Fitness, games, music, arts and crafts are some of the activities offered. The Community Center may charge fees for some activities to offset costs. We encourage formation of groups to do common activities so they may be offered at your convenience, rather than at the scheduled time at the respective community centers. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Drive a car? Love cooking, or just meeting people? We welcome new, enthusiastic volunteers who wish to make a difference in the lives of our seniors to whom we owe so much. Whatever your talents or strengths, your help will be well appreciated by our seniors and community. Please CONTACT US.
