"I can say with confidence that we will be having an 'end-of-the-year' barbeque after our last day of school, Thursday, the thirty-first (31st). Mr. Deruntz will be the adult in charge. I, my staff, and everyone attending thank him.
I had the idea of a barbeque in the north parking lot early last week and I met with the principal herself on Friday and she said she would consider the good and bad sides of it. On Monday after choosing the design for our graduation announcements, I asked her if she had decided. Indeed she had, and we had approval so long we had a teacher's supervision.
The problem I encountered while looking for teachers was that grades were due in that day and most teachers were grading finals and submitting those last minute grades. Luckily, 'Mr. D.' decided to help us out and be the teacher in charge.
This is not a publicity stunt for support on things I may take up next year as a Representative, this is simply a celebration of the first moments of our summer vacation and I am inviting everyone who wants to come and encourage them to bring something. We have enough Mountain Dew, Pepsi, and paper plates! Bring something to eat or a charcoal.
Contact me if you want to bring something. And if you don't want to keep a grill in the back of a pick up, talk to me, we may be able to work out some sort of storage thing either with the school or in my garage. We have one grill and I doubt that will be enough.
I intended this to be open to all the students but things are looking like it will be mostly the class of 2002. I am not shutting it though; all students and especially their class officials are invited. But as I said, we need grills.
