The kids all arrive in a strange new world and each of them befriend a Digital Monster called Digimon. Tai with Koromon, Matt with Tsunomon, Izzy with Motimon, Mimi with Tanemon, Sora with Yokomon, TK with Tokomon and Joe with Bukamon. The kids quickly find out that their Digimon friends can digi-volve into bigger Digimon!

The kids journey in the Digi World and are quickly involved in the mystery of the good Digimon turned bad. It seems that Black Gears have the power to change the Digimon's good programming into an evil one. These Black Gears are black circular gears that soar through the air and lounge itself into a Digimon's back.

The leader of all this evil programming is Devimon. The kids discover that they are the Digi-Destined, a group sent to the Digi World to rid it from evil. With the help of Angemon (Patamon's Champion Digimon form) the kids defeat the evil Devimon.

Right when they are celebrating, a mysterious figure who calls himself Gennai appears in holograms and instructs the kids to go to Server. Another continent of the Digi World and help him destroy the evil there. The kids agree and head off to the continent of Server...
