Title - "SNK vs. Capcom: Chj Kessen Saiky Fighters"/"SNK vs. Capcom: Choujou Kessen Saikyou Fighters"
Alternative title(s) - "SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium"
Genre(s) - Fighting - 2D
Platform(s) - Neo-Geo Pocket Color
We all have heard the rumor that there will be a such game with SNK characters going up against Capcom characters. Now, throw away your doubts. You have your game with those two companies going head to head.
"SNK vs. Capcom" came out in 1999 for the Neo-Geo Pocket Color. Yeah, that's right. The greatest handheld fighting game is not on a Game Boy system, but rather on the Neo-Geo Pocket Color. (By the way, if you put this game in the Neo-Geo Pocket, you'll get some extra pictures, but you won't be able to play the game.) Adding on, this is the only real "versus" game between two big names (as in real games, not including djin) I will ever need.
In the beginning, you start with Mai, Athena, Nakoruru, Leona, Ky, Hamaru, Ry, Iori, Terry, Sakura, Chun-Li, Felicia, Morrigan, Ryu, Ken, Dan, Guile and Zangief. Later on, you get Yuri, Akari, Geese, Riot of the Blood Iori, Bulleta, Gki, Vega and Awakened Ryu. Billy and Balrog aren't playable, but oh well.
There are plenty of options including controls, and battle layout. Remember that the longer you hold on to a button, the harder your attack becomes. You can decide if you want a 1 on 1 battle (a la "Street Fighter"), a 2 on 2 tag battle (a la the "versus" games in the past from Capcom) or a 3 on 3 team battle (a la KoF) for example. If you want more, you can do other tasks like going to the Olympics mode. There's a game w/ Felicia that plays like "Dance Dance Revolution", a game that's like "Duck Hunt" which is hosted by two soldiers from Metal Slug: Marco and Fio (press the Option button before you begin the event, as you will hear a click like when you reload a gun if you want to pick Fio) and more.
Fun - 10
Wai! There are so many reasons why this is one of the best fighting games ever! Fighting, being able to tag in, editing your fights, the game is that good! Okay, I wish that the game could have had a few more fighters like say Shiki, Hotaru, Hibiki, Hinata, Ayame, Ibuki, Daimon, Kaede, Guy and Kysuke, but the roster is good enough already.
Life - 10
Oh, you'll want to play it again. Adding on, the more you fight, the farther you go as you unlock secrets. Besides, fighting in the game itself is part of the fun.
Story - 10
Normally, in a dream match, you would never get some sort of story. Well, there is one in this game and it works. Geese and Vega join up together to draw their opponents into one tournament and they want to have their own army to rule the world.
Control - 10
If you can get past the sometimes annoying joystick, I don't see what else is wrong with the game.
Audio - 10
Yeah, I know that the game could have used voices. Back then, not many games did have voice samples and even if the game did have some, the game didn't have much anyways. Besides, it's nice to hear your classics from Esaka Forever to Kaze no Senshi. Plus, the non-classic songs were spiffy. What I don't get is why would Gki have his "Zero III" theme, even though he first did not start out as a Zero character. If you don't know, all "SFII" characters except for Gki have their respective theme song. I would have prefered Precious Heart instead of her "Zero III" theme in Sakura's case, but it still is pretty spiffy song though.
Art - 10
So what if all of the characters are really white, except for Zangief and Gki, who have flesh colored skin and that they all have three colors only? What matters is that the presentation looks good and it shows. The backgrounds give off a stream of nostalgia and I'm loving them. The characters look good. It can't get any better than this!
Overall - 10
Even if it just is a handheld fighter, it is one of the best fighters out there. Get it. Play it. Live it.
+
The fun, the amount of nostalgia you see in the game, it is that good.

Even with the limits given here, if I mention a flaw here, it's not that bad.
