Chapter 2: Formatting
1.0 WHAT IS FORMATTING
Formatting a document may include changing the font type, style,
or size, repositioning the margins or inserting bullet points. In
this chapter you will learn the basic processes involved in
formatting.
The figure below shows part of the unformatted document you will start with.

2.0 OPENING AN
EXISTING DOCUMENT
For the following exercise the unformatted document is provided
for you. This saves you having to type in the text.
Step 2.1 Using Windows Explorer, copy the Word document Ampac to your floppy disk in the 31/2 Floppy (A:) or to your folder on the hard drive.
To open the file, follow the steps below.
Step 2.2 Choose Open from the File menu.
Step 2.3 In the dialog box which appears, change the "Look in:" combo box to 31/2 Floppy (A:).
Step 2.4 Click on the Ampac document in the file list to choose it.

Step 2.5 Click on the open button to open the document. The document will appear in the word window.
