Maybe phoniness is from thinking and being real is feeling. Being real is about listening to yourself and others right now. Holden continually
changes plans because he is being real. Still, I don't think that you have to be alienating to accomplish a goal, just like you don't
have to be rude if you're not feeling so great. Suzanne

We all must be phony at times. Even Holden is not genuine all the time. To tell the truth we all must reach for the golden ring. If we fall into a
world of phoniness while trying to grab it then we are better for trying and not lying to ourselves by not taking the risk of
reaching for the gold. Very few are skilled enough to grab the ring and not fall off the hourse into the phony world.
