Engine Spins On Start But Will Not Fire

SYMPTOMPROBLEMCURE

Perform Spark plug test, if no spark

Ignition shorting through condensation or damp Thoroughly dry ignition harness and inside of distribution cap
Distributor rotor cracked
* In Fuel Injection system Check the Ignitor. Could be faulty or not working at all.In most of the cases ignitor fail to work.
Remove distributor cap.Check crackes in rotor,Replace rotor plus remove carbon from the distributor cap.
*Check the current flow with the tester. If the current passing indication is not available then replace the ignitor. If current is passing then check the wiring going through the ignitor.
Ignition leads perished or plugs fouled Clean or replace (spark plugs).Replace spark plugs if leaking current. Please see chapter"keeping your car healthy" for spark plugs in detail.

Perfor spark-test with lead from coil

Faulty ignition switch(no supply to coil) By pass switch wire until you get home. make direct connection from battery to Distributor. (1.Faulty ignition starter  (2)  faulty ignition coil  (3) burned ignition fues
Shorten or broken low-tension wires.Check circut with tester Replace low-tension wire if faulty. Remake circut by connecting the wires
Dirty, wrongly gapped or pitted contact breaker points. Clean, file up and reset. Replace points later if badly deteriorated.
Faulty condenser.(Excessive sparking across points when flipped open with thumb) Replace condenser
Faulty coil( Produce no spark or low spark to plugs) Replace ignition coil.( if coil fail when hot and works when cooled down, this indicates the failure of the ballast resistor
Some part of contact breaker moving arm earthed or broken Check contact breaker for shorts,or missing insulation between moving arm and baseplate. In this case Replace point.

Spark OK but no fuel at carburetor jet/float chamber

NO fuel Always be sure that there is fuel in tank and never let fuel go less then quarter.
Faulty Fuel Pump Replace Fuel Pump ( either mechanical system or electric) In electrical system don't forget to check the contact points. some time the point can be loose.
Inopreative float chamber needle valve Remove and clean
Fuel Filter Block Replace Fuel Filter
Carburetor jet blocked Remove and clean. carb jets are always in side the carburetors.
Vapour lock Douse Fuel lines with wet rags.

Over flow ( fuel )

Over use of choke 1.Remove plugs are dry them out.
2.opreate starter on wide throtle.( battery may fail on long throtle )
3.wait for some time , fuel will get dry with the time.
Flot or neddle valve stic or damaged Remove throtle valve cover and examine the needle.
wrong float level Adjust position of float level. take help of some expert while adjsuting the level.Level should be specified by manufacturers.
