Hard Starting

Hard or cold start is the most common form of car trouble. It's normally due to the unperformed regular maintenance on vehicles.If the starter cranks the engine, but the car is not starting, then the probpem could be in starting sensor( in fuel injected models) , or the choke mechanism (in carburetors type engines).Frequently starting failure can be traced to an electronics components or a computer controlling the ignition system.

Hard starting tips

Having a hard time getting your car fired up? Maybe it's something so simple that you overlooked something. Here is a quick check list of things to look for when you can't get your car up and running!

  1. Clean and fix all grounds, no matter how insignificant they may seem.Make sure you have a chassis to engine block/bellhousing ground.
  2. Give up the jumper cables and make the proper battery to batt cable connections.
  3. Measure current draw between positive battery cable and positive post with everything off to eliminate electrical shorts.
  4. Test starter to verify it's good.
  5. Make sure timing is close.
