CONCERT & CEREMONY FROM ANCIENT PERU & party @ Totem
Hi, all There was a time we were moons and stars, love and sorrow, and generations of hopes and dreams. What have we grown into? Are we really experiencing life to its fullest? Maybe the music from ancient Peru holds part of the answer. Then there is always the belly dance. Enjoy. :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- Event1 & 2: ANDEAN HEALING WORKSHOP The Kíintu workshop is a circular journey through the three worlds found in Andean tradition: the Uccu Pacha (the world of our ancestors and our roots), the Kai Pacha (this world--the moment we are living in), and the Hanan Pacha (the Universe). Through the use of the music, ritual, silence, movement and ancestral sounds of original instruments from pre-Incan cultures and other ancient cultures, the workshop will help each one of us discover how we, individually and collectively, experience these three worlds. Silence is utilized during the workshop to awaken alternative forms of perception and communication and to help us concentrate upon Munay, the power of feeling. This workshop is a personal quest and also a collective search based upon Ayni (sharing) and Noqa kan kani ("you and I are the same"). The musical instruments are from ancient Peruvian pre-Incan and Incan cultures: seashell trumpets, whistling pottery, condor feather pan flutes, bone flutes, ceramic whistles and drums as well as instruments from other ancient cultures. Tito La Rosa is a musician, researcher and healer who for the past ten years has researched the sounds of Peruvian pre-Incan and Incan musical instruments and their healing qualities. He has a private practice in sound therapy and works using ancestral sounds for healing in a psychiatric institution. His recordings are Canto Ancestral, Ritual, Nazca, Kíintu, The Prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor, and Icaro Shamanic Songs. Elba Bravo is a teacher and therapist in her native Peru. She is director of CHAUPIN Andean Wisdom Center and a founding member of the Body-Mind therapy Peruvian Association. She is a researcher in Andean Spirituality and its manifestation in the present era. She works in Lima holding workshops on Andean Spirituality for youths, adults and families. He is actively attempting a cultural dialogue between ancient and contemporary times, dreaming of harmony and balance between humanity and nature. Tito La Rosa performs throughout his native Peru as well as in Europe, the US and Japan, where he toured and performed with world acclaimed New Age musician Kitaro as well as performing on Kitaro's Grammy winning record Thinking of You.
