Colonial Snail |
Colonial Snail style fire steel or flint striker. It is a rare variation of a C style striker with the ends curled in like a pair of snails. This is based on an original from the Tom Wnuck collection, which came out of the Cherry Hill archeological dig - a 17th century Seneca village site. This style would have been carried by a trader, hunter, settler, soldier, militiaman, or member of one of the Tribes in middle to northern Atlantic coastal regions. For someone recreating the persona of someone from the 1600's through 1700's middle to northern colonies. Size is approximately 2 5/8 inch by 1 1/4 inch, and 3/16 inch thick.
