Kickapoo Indian C Style

Kickapoo Indian C style fire steel or flint striker. It is a variation of the classic C style striker, having a very thick striking surface, and that thickness extending around the ends before tapering to the little curls. Based on an original in the collection of the National Museum of the American Indian that was collected from the Kickapoo Indians in Oklahoma. This style of C striker has shown up in archeological sites and collections from Eastern Colonial times, and across the Southern states, and on to Colonial Spanish areas. It has even shown up in Roman 1st to 3rd century sites. One is pictured in the book Collectors Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution. For someone recreating the persona of a settler or hunter in the Middle Grounds. Size is approximately 3 1/2 inch by 1 3/4 inch, and 1/8 inch thick.
