The Scottish Education system is quite different from that of
England and closer in structure to that of the USA. Students 'graduate' from the
Scottish system at 17 generally with '5' Highers, having taken 'Intermediate
1 & 2' examinations (previously known as 'Standard Grades). Intermediate 2
is equivalent GCSE at 'C' or above.
