I am Maureen
Here's what I have on as the story goes.. some
memories my dad shared with me on what he was told about their lives in
Indiana.. little memory of the picture painted.. the house they lived in was
close to a Cherokee village, and they were close.. Here are some pictures
from our relations in Indiana.. but I think all of these pictures were taken
in the Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma area. As near as I can tell the
move to this area was along the Trail of Tears.
This first one is a picture of my
great-Grandfather's wife's Grandmother. My Great Grandmother was
Nellie (Lillie) Beshears... This is a picture of her Grandmother..
I don't have a picture of Nellie Bashears. but
this is an older picture of her husband Nathaniel R. Hunt. He was
holding my dad in this picture.
His (Nathanial's) second wife, I think was also Indian.. Her name might have been Nythurma..
They had 2 sons, the one pictured who died at about 17, and a Martin Hunt. My dad said that once they divorced she moved back to
Russellville Arkansas where she was from. He
said she took Martin Hunt with her and that, even though my Grandpa tried to
find his half brother (Martin Hunt) by placing some ads in the paper he was
never able to locate him.
This is a picture of Natanaiel R. Hunt's sister, Ann
Elizabeth Hunt.. she too was born in Indiana.. also made the move that put
them at the Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas border.. she married a Miller.
this is a picture of my dad as a boy..
This is a picture of Maureen (me) and my grandfather
(my dads dad)
