Rainbow Booties
I started on a blanket first, but I couldn't wait to have something for the little one so I quickly crocheted these booties from an internet pattern and some stash yarn.
White Baby Cap
When the blanket was about half done, I couldn't stand it anymore and made this little hat. I plan to make more in different colors. Again from an internet pattern and stash yarn. I will add ribbon if it is a girl.
Baby Blanket
And finally, the blanket. Made from Lion-brand Jiffy yarn from a pattern off of the Lion Brand web site. It took a while, but it will keep the little one warm.
Mommy Models the Baby Stuff
Here is "Mommy" (Sarah) modeling the completed baby items.
Rolled Brim Baby Hat and Mittens
I knit this little rolled brim hat out of stash acrylic yarn from a simple pattern on the internet. I finished it on Christmas eve and was bored, so whipped up the little mittens at Stacey's suggestion. They were presented on Christmas morning to Mommy and Daddy-to-be with the bear as a model. The pattern is found here.
Baby Bib
Once I got the above mentioned mittens done, I was bored again and still had a few hours to kill before Santa came, so I made this bib to match. It is a bit big, but I guess that doesn't hurt for a bib.
Rolled Brim Baby Hat with Topknot
Completed January 11, 2003. Look familiar? This is the same pattern I made on Christmas eve. It was going to be white with pink hearts so that Sarah would have one for each sex, just in case. But now that we know that it will be "Justin" arriving in the spring, I put in Navy blue hearts. This picture shows the top detail better than the one on the bear. This makes 4 off the UFO list.
Baby Shower Gift Bag
Completed March 22, 2003. Although this isn't technically for Justin, Sarah hauled in enough stuff for him at this shower that I decided it counts. I knit 8 small face cloths out of sport-weight Sugar and Cream (Sugar Babies) and made scented glycerin soaps. I then placed 1 face cloth, 2 wrapped soaps, and 4 chocolate candies in a bag and decorated it with a lace bow. The note says "Some handmade luxury for you: a handknit face cloth, handmade glycerin (hypoallergenic) soaps, and a few chocolates because you are so sweet. Thank you for being our friend."
Jumpsuit
Completed April 6, 2003. I actually knit this in February while driving to North Carolina from Illinois. I let it sit (because everyone knows I hate finishing) and finally was guilted into finishing it when Justin's due date drew near. Then I put off buying the last 2 buttons for a week and now here it is - and we are still waiting for Justin. He's 9 days late today! Made from a Patternworks pattern using Plymouth Dreambaby DK.
3-Button Pullover
Completed May 1, 2003. This is another one that I knit a while ago and put off finishing. It is made using Plymouth Wildflowers DK. Don't you love those ducky buttons?
